GHO Cardiology Professional Committee Established in San Francisco, USA

SAN FRANCISCO — The Inaugural Meeting of the GHO Cardiology Professional Committee was held in San Francisco, United States. More than 320 top experts from 85 countries worldwide attended the ceremony to witness the official launch of the committee.

During the meeting, cardiovascular specialists across the globe discussed global prevention and management of cardiovascular diseases, standardization of clinical practice, multinational multicenter research, capacity building for primary cardiac care and translation of cutting-edge cardiovascular technologies.

The committee aims to build a global academic collaboration platform, integrating worldwide clinical, research and public health resources in cardiology. It will facilitate international exchange and implementation of cardiovascular guidelines, support technology transfer and training between high-income and low- and middle-income nations, and jointly reduce the global burden of cardiovascular mortality and morbidity.

The assembly approved the committee’s organizational structure, bylaws and three-year work plan. Participants noted cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death worldwide, calling for cross-border coordinated action. The founding of the GHO Cardiology Professional Committee establishes a regular global dialogue and cooperation mechanism for cardiovascular medicine, to expand equitable access to high-quality cardiac care for populations globally.
