Notice on the Open Selection of Candidate Members for the Public Health Professional Committee

To further integrate high-quality global public health resources, build an international and professional platform for academic exchanges and technical collaboration in public health, enhance global capabilities in responding to public health emergencies, disease prevention and control, health system development, and public health policy research, and promote the coordinated and high-quality development of global public health undertakings, the Public Health Professional Committee is to be established upon deliberation. We hereby launch a global selection of candidate members. Relevant matters are notified as follows:

1. Committee Positioning

The GHO Public Health Professional Committee is a professional academic and technical advisory body focusing on global public health. It gathers top talents in global public health research, clinical practice, prevention and control, management, and education. The committee is mainly committed to carrying out cutting-edge global public health research, academic exchanges, standard formulation, technical guidance, talent training, policy consultation, and international cooperation, so as to support the development of an efficient, interconnected and inclusive global public health protection system.

2. Basic Selection Criteria for Candidate Members

Adhering to the principles of openness, fairness, impartiality and merit-based selection, this recruitment is open to practitioners engaged in public health and related fields worldwide. All candidates shall meet the following core requirements:

2.1 Professional Qualification: Hold a senior professional and technical title in public health, preventive medicine, epidemiology, health statistics, environmental health, occupational health, nutrition and food health, health management, health service management, infectious disease prevention and control, or other related disciplines, with solid professional knowledge and outstanding academic capabilities.

2.2 Age Requirement: Candidates shall be under 70 years of age, in good health, and able to fully participate in all committee work and academic activities.

2.3 Professional Competence: Have long-term working experience in public health-related scientific research, teaching, clinical prevention and control, industry management or technical services, with high academic influence, rich practical experience and a good professional reputation in the field, and have achieved outstanding academic or practical results.

2.4 Professional Ethics: Abide by academic ethics and laws and regulations, with a rigorous work style and a strong sense of responsibility; have no bad academic records or professional integrity violations; recognize the purpose and articles of association of the Committee and voluntarily comply with all management regulations.

2.5 Willingness to Perform Duties: Have sufficient time and energy to perform committee duties, actively participate in academic seminars, research projects, standard formulation, science popularization, technical review, international exchanges and other committee activities, and contribute actively to the development of global public health undertakings.

2.6 Priority Conditions: Priority will be given to experts with international public health cooperation experience, experience in responding to major global public health emergencies, experience in leading or participating in the formulation of industry standards, or experience in undertaking national or above key scientific research projects.

3. Main Duties of Candidate Members

3.1 Participate in the formulation and summary of the Committee’s annual work plan, as well as the discussion, review and decision-making of major work matters.

3.2 Conduct research on cutting-edge global public health technologies, promote academic exchanges and achievement transformation, and facilitate experience and technology sharing in the public health field across countries and regions.

3.3 Participate in the discussion, compilation and revision of public health industry norms, technical standards and prevention and control guidelines, and provide professional consultation and technical support for global public health policy formulation, public health emergency response and public health system construction.

3.4 Participate in special work organized by the Committee, including talent training, academic science popularization, industry research and international collaboration.

3.5 Actively promote the working concepts and achievements of the Committee to enhance its international influence and industry credibility.

4. Application and Selection Procedures

4.1 Application Period

The application window opens from the date of this notice and closes on April 30, 2026. No applications will be accepted after the deadline.

4.2 Application Method

This selection adopts a dual application mechanism of self-recommendation and institutional recommendation. Qualified experts around the world may apply independently or be recommended by their affiliated research institutions, universities, medical institutions, industry associations or public health administrative departments.
